Cypress Living was recognized by LeadingAge Florida at their 58th Annual Convention and Exposition with the Innovation Award for their deployment of robotics and technologies to enhance the overall resident experience, and to keep residents safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. Details about the awards program can be read in this LeadingAge Florida press release.
It’s not unique for aging services operators to have technology in place. Many organizations have foundational technologies today. But Cypress Living and its affiliates Cypress at Home and the Life Plan Community of Cypress Cove have taken these applications steps beyond the norm by combining technology with innovative concepts to open wide the possibilities for helping provide more efficient and effective care benefitting both client and healthcare worker.
CEO/President Troy Churchill and VP of Innovation Joe Velderman are the architects of innovative, technology powered solutions aimed at solving specific challenges facing aging services providers.
At Cypress Living, it’s about getting the right data to the right person at the right time so that they can provide the right care to the right client. That is a powerful statement and Cypress Living believes it is and will continue to help older adults age more successfully, whether it is in their home or at the Life Plan community of Cypress Cove.
These innovative solutions have been even more relevant during the last 12 months of the pandemic by providing greater operational efficiency.
Cypress at Home’s newly launched medical care team is now backed by a host of integrated technologies offering next-gen primary care services to its clients. A client can go online and schedule an appointment with their provider and choose whether they want that visit to be an in-office, in-person, or virtual appointment.
Beyond these three types of provider visits, the Cypress Living medical care team has been equipped with some telepresence robots who conduct their “rounds” in Cypress Cove’s skilled nursing healthcare setting. Integration of this technology has added effective provider-on-demand care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Even more robust is an innovative approach that allows medical assistants to use connected devices to record vital statistics and engage in an on-demand telemedicine visit. Medical assistance now has a telehealth care (aptly name “Shirley”) that can be brought anywhere on the Cypress Cove Campus to facilitate telemedicine appointments.
Real-time care coordination, using a HIPAA-compliant instant-messaging platform, also has been integrated into Cypress Cove healthcare operations, allowing for timely round-the-clock care options to be shared between medical personnel. The integration of these technology tools has increased efficiency and quality of care while providing greater accessibility to residents of Cypress Cove and patients of Cypress at Home.
A campus-wide Wi-Fi upgrade has improved Cypress Cove’s device onboarding, network segmentation and security; supporting modern devices used by resident and helped many with “Smart-Home” technologies. The innovative centerpiece in this development is the use of “Three Cs” technology: Convenience, Concierge, and Connections – and integrating each component through a voice first strategy.
The concept has excited many residents who now utilize several components of the system. The initial component, convenience, is readily available using internet connected devices through a HIPAA compliant product. The concierge component involves a voice-activated component that adds a powerful tool to a resident’s service. The final element, connection, is focused largely around the use of telehealth technologies including wearables and remote patient monitoring (RPM) solutions for specific chronic or acute conditions.
